Patricia Jane Bryant Wortham, 80, of Searcy, passed away Friday January 13, 2017. She was born November 16, 1936 in Southern Pines, N.C. to the late W.L. and Sallie (Hill) Bryant. Pat was a devoted educator, teaching elementary school for 37 years. After retiring, she spent her time volunteering in the libraries at both Sidney Deener and McRae Elementary. Whether it was sharing homemade goodies with others, tracking down boxes and helping pack books, making copies of handouts for classes or helping with general office work, she continued to contribute to the school as long as she was able. Her favorite task by far was gathering children around her feet and reading carefully selected stories to them with riveting drama. She went above and beyond to make a difference in children's lives and her endearing love for each and every one of them was evident. Pat was a loving wife, mother, teacher and friend and could light up a room just by entering. Her sweet smile will be truly missed. Left to cherish Pat's memory is her husband of 58 years, James Wallace Wortham, one daughter, Suzie Wortham of Hillsborough, N.C.; one brother, Peter Bryant of Johnson City, Tenn.; and one sister, Phyllis Bryant of Jonesboro, Ark. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by one sister, Sallie Angela Bryant. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Pat's love of children and animals, please send donations to Humane Society of Searcy or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21st at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21st at White County Memorial Gardens. All funeral services have been entrusted to Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Share a Memory: searcymceuenfuneralhome.com.
