Tommy Evans

Tommy Evans, 83 of Bearden, died Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was born January 15, 1934 in Thornton to the late Stewart B. and Edna Grace Evans. He retired from International Paper after 38 years of service. Following his retirement Tommy continued to garden and do carpentry projects until Alzheimer's prevented his work. He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Jack Evans and three sisters, Lynn Buffington, Grace Bradshaw, and Lola Clemons. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Evans of Bearden; four children, Teresa Hopkins and husband Bennett of Bearden, Kathy Rogers of Bearden, Toni Santifer and husband David of Hope, Mark David Evans of Bearden; three brothers, Wayland Evans of Hampton, Larry Evans of Junction City, La., Gary Evans of Junction City, Ark., four sisters, Mary Beth Chambliss of Camden, Maxine Martin of El Dorado, Lou Ann Moore of Camden, Joyce Key of Wynne; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation is Sunday evening from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2PM Monday at Eagle Mills Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Salam Cemetery.
