Our beloved "Mimi," Charlotte Evelyn Copeland, unexpectedly departed this life Thursday morning, Jan. 19, 2017. She was born in Little Rock to Max T. and Martha Brown on Aug. 25, 1929. Mimi grew up on Bishop Street in a more idyllic time, graduating from Little Rock Senior High School (later known as Central High). Mom had fond memories of growing up on Bishop, catching a streetcar or walking to school. After graduation, Charlotte moved to Washington D.C. for an adventure as an office girl in the Pentagon. Homesick for family, Mimi moved back to Little Rock where she met the love of her life for 61 years, Bill Copeland. She was an exemplary Christian, devoted mother, confidant, and inspiration to all who knew her. The heart and soul of our family has received her wings and left us to aspire to our better nature and the example she so tirelessly set for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will all greatly miss being able to pick up the phone, calling her and hearing a cheerful "Well Hi Hon!'" on the line. Mom was a true Southern beauty, but it was her inner beauty that made her shine like the diamond she was. One of her grandsons, Glynn, had this to say, "Charlotte Copeland was one of the kindest, gentlest, and most giving human beings I've had the pleasure of knowing; lucky are those who knew her. Always kind, always patient, and always ready to listen-Charlotte was the embodiment of what Christians strive to be. A virtuous, good-spirited and positive beacon of light in a world that is sometimes unforgiving. She should be remembered for her genuine belief that good things await us all and that our good acts will echo throughout time if we simply choose to do them." "Not that I have attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me." Philippians 3:12. Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Max Brown, sister "angel in arms," Tiny Bracy and waiting soulmate, Bill Copeland, she is survived by her loving sister, Midge and her husband, John Rush. She leaves behind her children, Michael Copeland (Tammy), Pamela Copeland, David Copeland, and Billy Copeland (Sandy). We love you Mom-the void will never be filled. Visitation will be Monday, January 23 from 9-10 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Road). Memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Mr. Chuck Monan, followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 10900 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72212. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Charlotte's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
