Mary Pearl Pool Detherage, 88, of the East End Community (Saline County) died Friday, January 20, 2017, at the Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, W.T (Bill) Detherage. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Detherage Ward (Neal); her son, Tom Detherage (Connie); four grandchildren, Beth Detherage Dority (Andrea), Nicole Ward Blood (Nick), Drew Detherage, and Natalie Ward Allen (John); four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Jo Richmond, Jack Ward Allen, Kinsley Mae Blood, and Josephina Pearl Allen; brother-in law, Dorman Preston Speer (Carolyn/Melba); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Jarrett Pool and Ola Ethel Pool, and her sisters; Vera Geneva Hollowoa, Eva Lucille (Parson) DuBose, Mattie Lena Goad, Ruby Ernestine (Abercombie) McColloch, Doris Irene Burks, Ida Katherine (Warford) Jenkins, and Carolyn Virginia Speer. Mary was born April 17, 1928, in Buckville, Arkansas. She was raised in Lonsdale, Arkansas, and she graduated from Rural Dale School in 1946. Mary retired from Kmart in 1986. She loved to quilt, sew, and create plastic canvas crafts. She enjoyed being on her computer, and she had included over 800 members into her online family tree. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Mary Pearl, or "Pug" as known to many, was a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Ashby Funeral Home (Benton, Arkansas) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be held Friday, January 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Ashby Funeral Home, and she will be interred in a family plot at Ten Mile Cemetery in Lonsdale, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Ten Mile Cemetery Fund, c/o Jerry Westerman, 16076 Hwy. 70, Benton, Arkansas 72019. Pallbearers: Darrell Ford, Eddie Harris, Charlie Lee, Bill McCollough, Thearon McKinney, Doug Speer, John Thorpe, and Eddie Warford.
