Donald Cochran Stanley

Donald Cochran Stanley departed this life on January 29, 2017 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's and other health issues. He was born on June 15, 1936 to the late Carlon Joseph Stanley and Kauletta Cochran Stanley of Bald Knob, Arkansas. He was a 1954 graduate of Bald Knob High School and attended ASU-Beebe and Harding University. He worked as an electrician in the construction of the dam at Heber Springs. In the late 50's he began working at the locally owned Bald Knob Telephone Company. His telephone work continued with Contel, Verizon and GTE until 1993 when he retired with over 30 years of service. He served six years with the Arkansas National Guard. He retired from the Bald Knob Fire Department, was a past member of the Jaycees and Lions Club. He was a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church. He was a talented Musician and loved to sing. After retirement his great love was golf. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Sue, his son, Scott and wife Kelly, three very special grandchildren, Morgan, Sophia and Andrew, his sisters-in-law, Ann Rushing and Janette Hester, other family members and a host of friends. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the caregivers at the Crossing at Riverside for their love and care of Don for over the past six years, especially the CNAs and nurses of Hall 100. Visitation will be Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the service following at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Fredonia Cemetery.
