James Phillips "Jim" Crouch, 87, finished his race and passed away peacefully on July 2, 2017. He was born May 15, 1930 to Francis and Allen L. Crouch II in Batesville, Arkansas. Jim attended Batesville schools followed by Principia College, The University of Alabama and the University of Arkansas. He married Jean Rutherford in 1948 and they shared a long life together as business and life partners. He farmed and raised Angus cattle in his early years, then joined his father in 1958 in the family business, Crouch Funeral Home. Jim assumed the role of CEO upon his father's death and ran the company with his wife Jean until 2003. Jim was a people person and always remembered every family member. He was extremely proud to have seen the family company reach 100 years of service in northeast Arkansas. Jim was an active Jaycee and a proud member of Kiwanis for over 40 years. He achieved the 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite of Free Masons. He took great care and was a great comfort to families while working with Crouch Funeral Home. He was always a professional and he usually had a humorous anecdote to share with those families. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jean. He is survived by his only brother, Allen L. "Pat" Crouch III of Batesville and by his son, Allen R. Crouch of Batesville, his two daughters, Katherine C. Hughes of Bellevue, Washington and Laura A. Crouch of San Diego. He has five grandchildren including Amy Howard of Bellevue, Nebraska, Nathan Crouch of Newark, Arkansas and Vanessa Ethan Hughes of Bellevue, Washington and Mika Richardson. His seven great-grandchildren include Andrew Bradley, Evan and Julianna Howard and Kallie Lee and Nash Allen Crouch, K-Leigh Smith and Kayla Richardson. Our family would like to give special thanks to all his home caregivers and WRMC staff for their help during the past few months. We were blessed with wonderful people that made his last days comfortable and enjoyable. We thank you for your loving and deep support. A visitation and services will be held at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville on Wednesday, July 5th at 1:30-2 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively. A graveside service will immediately follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
