Josephine McDaniel Stone

Josephine McDaniel Stone, 94, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, July 3, 2017, at Trinity Village Center. She was the third of eight children and was born November 15, 1922, in Pine Bluff, to Albert Calhoun and Viola Brown McDaniel. She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Watson Chapel High School. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she devoted her life to taking care of the children at the daycare and also taking care of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked for the Jefferson County Election Commission. She and her husband loved traveling with friends to Razorback football games and playing bingo at Rosswood Country Club, playing bridge and traveling all over Arkansas. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Archie G. "Abe" Stone whom she married on July 15, 1943 in Meridian, Mississippi; her parents; sisters, Mildred Lee, Helen Chapuis, Thelma Lanius and Marie Jordan. Survivors include her children, Pamela Stone Ratliff of Pine Bluff, Patrick G. Stone (Margaret) of Hot Springs, Roger G. Stone of Little Rock, Phillip B. Stone (Donna) of White Hall; grandchildren, Stacy Ratliff Richey (Brian) of Rogers, Whitney Ratliff Hardin (Mark) of Gig Harbor, Washington, Timothy Stone of Sacramento, California, Rachel Stone Edwards (Tony) of Denver, Colorado, Phillip Barclay Hager (Veronica) of Bono, Jake Cantrell (Hui) of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, Joe Garrett Murdock, Stone Augustus Murdock, Haley Hardin, Andrew Hardin, Mia Edwards, Jacob Cantrell V, Ashlyn Hager; sisters, Gladys Tucker, Frances Weeks (Gene); brother, Albert (Sonny) McDaniel and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held, 4 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Lorrie Slaymaker officiating.
