Cleo Homer Waddell Jr., 74, of Springdale, passed away July 18, 2017. He was born Sept., 14, 1942 in Pocahontas, Ark., to Cleo Homer Waddell Sr. and Hazel Johnson. Cleo was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Medlock and Leona "Dink" Loftis, and one brother, Ligie Waddell Sr. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Waddell of the home, three sons, Jeffrey Ray Waddell of Maynard, Ark., Darren Scott Waddell and wife Alma,and Quinten Boyd Waddell and wife Lori, a daughter, Nicole Pena and husband Jared of Springdale, a brother, Tommie Waddell and wife Janet of Ironton, Mo., one sister, Brenda Ward and husband Carl of Imboden, Ark., his mother-in-law Katherine Segraves, three brothers-in-law James "Bomber" Medlock, Bruce Segraves, and Larry Segraves, eleven grandchildren, Bethany Ann, Trinity and wife Shannon, Harrison and wife Olivia, Megan and husband Aaron, Emily, Jessica and husband Dallas, Eli, D'Nel, Zachary, Jennica, Gavin, and one great-grandchild, Dawson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Cleo was better known to his good friends and family as "June" or Junior. He began work at the age of 12 cutting timbers for a saw mill with his father. He married his wife of 56 years right out of High School. They began their life in St. Louis while he worked as a soda jerk. They moved back to Springdale, Ark., and had three boys in 36 months. Cleo was a member of the Jaycees and held many offices over the years including local President and state officer. During this time he was very involved in politics and worked to pass many important legislative bills in Arkansas. They moved back to Eastern Arkansas where they owned a grocery store like his grandfather had. He started the Jaycees organization in Maynard and was Justice of the Peace. He then moved back to Springdale where they had a daughter. Cleo had great faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and had many callings in his church including Bishop where he served the youth. His favorite calling however was gospel doctrine teacher. He was a great salesman and retail manager. Cleo loved telling stories, talking to people, and was proud of his Scotch-Irish Heritage. He made sure his children know they were loved, that they could do anything with hard work, to be proud of where they came from and above all always be themselves. There was nothing he was more proud of then his family. His children and grandchildren were bragged on to anyone willing to listen. He left this love of life, learning, and people to all those he came in contact. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Springdale. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Hite Cemetery in Biggers, Ark. A visitation will take place from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
