MILDRED SUE GADDY BLANN of Sherwood, passed into Eternal Life on July 10, 2017. She was born in Florence, Ark., on Jan. 21, 1924 to the late James Lee and Ella Belle Crews Gaddy. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Tillman Byron Blann and brothers Robert, James Lee, and Harold Gaddy. She is survived by a son, Tim Blann (Joan) of Sherwood; a brother Edmund Gaddy of Texas, a granddaughter Beverly Sue Weidner (Aaron) of Kansas City; granddaughter Barb Raney (Dustin) of Little Rock; great-granddaughters Breckon and Leighton Raney and Natalie Weidner and a great-grandson Will Weidner; and many nieces and nephews. Sue was a Western union clerk in Dermott where she and Byron met and made their home for 61 years. She was an active member of Dermott Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for many years. She also worked as secretary for Dermott Elementary School. In her retirement years she especially enjoyed working with the adult literacy program in Dermott. She is known for her southern cooking, immaculate housekeeping, strong work ethic and steadfast belief system. In 2005 they moved to Sherwood where they were members of First Baptist Church of Sherwood. Her hobbies included crocheting and reading. Funeral service will be at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home on July 24 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m., Reverend Dennis Smith, officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, July 25 at the Dermott Cemetery at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention.
