John W. "Joe" Martar, 72, of Eudora, Ark., passed away at his home Friday, July 21, 2017. Joe was born July 10, 1945 in Wilmot, Ark., to the late John Wesley & Bessie Mae Nowlen Martar Sr. He was the owner & founder of Martar Construction in Lake Village, Ark. He was a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He loved having cook-outs, spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. His other passions included hunting and cheering on his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; R.L., Hewie, John, Carl, and Thomas Martar and one sister, Marteel Sammons. Joe is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Linda Dalton Martar of Eudora, Ark., three sons, David Martar and his wife, Andie, of Lake Village, Ark., Jeff Martar of Eudora, Ark., and Jason Martar and his wife, Amber, of Greenville, Miss., a daughter, Jamie Lynn Martar Jones and her husband, Dusty, of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Bill Martar of Eudora, Ark., and Gene Martar and his wife, Vaunda Martar of Kilbourne, La., a sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Smith and her husband, Harold "Cracker" Smith; nine grandchildren, Nathan Martar, Julia Clare Martar, Jason Zane Martar, Jack Martar, Emma Kate Jones, Shelby Marie O'Fallen, Bailey Palmer, Aiden Pierce, and Jayce Formigoni, and one great-grandchild, River Jakob Webb, and a host of family, friends, and extended family that loved him and will miss him dearly. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Village, Ark., with internment to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora, Ark.
