James William Gower

James William "Speedy" Gower, 83, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 in Searcy. He was born February 1, 1934 in Judsonia a son of the late Red and Montine (Miller) Gower. Mr. Gower worked as a lineman for 55 years and also retired from AP&L. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, enjoyed fishing and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Judsonia. He is survived by his wife, Helen Gower; sister, Gloria Bayer; nieces, Candace and Felicia; special grandson, Jeremy Sutterfield and his family; step-daughters, Carolyn Morgan (Tommy) and Helen Smith; step-sons, Carl Sutterfield (Gail), Keith Sutterfield (Tina) and Mickey Sutterfield (LeighAnn); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jim and John Gower. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel.
