Frances S. Curry

Frances S. Curry passed away on June 12 at the age of 101 after a brief illness. She was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar C. Sharp of Warren, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Richard, Hugh and Louis. Frances had a successful and varied career, from county government to the lumber industry to various small businesses. She was always good with numbers and loved investing as much as discussing the ups and downs of the market. From the Great Depression to today, she was an avid observer of the changes that occurred over the past century and never lost interest in the events of the day. But her primary interest was her family, particularly the generations that followed her. She was always available to catch up on their latest accomplishments while offering advice and words of encouragement. But she was also always up for adventure — from fishing trips to Disney World, she made climbing mountains fun, both literally and figuratively. She is survived by her son Charles of Austin, Texas; her twin grandsons, Chris (with wife Marissa) and Jeff (with wife Kristelle), along with three great-grandchildren, all of New York; her sister-in-law, Martha Sharp of Dallas; and a very special niece, Jeanie Nance of Springdale, Ark. — as well as generations of cousins now spread far and wide. Strong as old oak and honest as the day, she's gone from our side but ever present in our hearts. We will always strive to follow the example she set of a life well-lived. Frances was laid to rest in a family graveside ceremony at Oakland Cemetery in Warren. The family asks that those who knew her remember her by engaging in one of her favorite pastimes — simply sharing her thoughts with others. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com
