Judy Allen Hahn Haley

Judy Allen Hahn Haley, 71, of Jefferson, died Friday, June 23, 2017. She was born Dec. 12, 1945 in Charlotte, N.C., daughter of Charles Glenn Hahn and Beulah Odessa Burleson Hahn. Mrs. Haley was reared and received her early education in Fernandina Beach, Fla., graduating from high school there. After moving to Arkansas, she earned her bachelor's degree from Little Rock University and her Master's Degree from Ouachita Baptist University. She was a school teacher for many years in the Dollarway and White Hall School Districts, retiring as a fifth grade teacher at Hardin Elementary in Redfield in 1997. Mrs. Haley loved her students and had a passion for teaching. She formed the Young Astronauts Club in Redfield, was a semifinalist for teacher in space in 1986 and was Arkansas Game and Fish Teacher of the Year in the 1980s. Mrs. Haley was probably best known, however, for her petting zoos. She loved animals and passed on that passion to her students. Mrs. Haley was a member of Redfield United Methodist Church. She also served on the 911 board and worked as the Education Director for the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas after her retirement from the schools. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her loving husband of over 50 years, Curt Haley, whom she married Dec. 31, 1966 in Sheridan; son, Champ Haley (Kristie Brickey) of Redfield; daughter, Christy Haley (Glen Heavner) of Redfield; brother, Charles Hahn (Paula Lanham) of Hilliard, Fla.; grandchildren, Lynn Park (Jennie), Haley Ross (Jordan), Maddy Haley, Katy Haley and Emmy Haley; and great-grandchildren, Emma Park, Levi Park and Will Ross. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in the Chapel of Cranford Funeral Home with Reverends Dan Mincy, Steve Brickey and Charles Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Redfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cranford Funeral Home.
