Joe Alton Abrams, MD, 75, of Cabot passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born December 11, 1941 in Humnoke, Arkansas to Basil and Anna Marie Brown Abrams. He practiced medicine for 40 years. Dr. Abrams earned his education beginning in England Ark., Southern Arkansas University, Bachelor of Science at Arkansas State Teachers College, Master of Science at University of North Texas. While attending UNT, Dr. Abrams performed research funded by NASA. He then proceeded into his medical education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, graduating in 1974. Dr. Abrams specialized in the area of Family Medicine, and demonstrated love and care for his patients. He loved to bass fish, spend time outside, and enjoyed the Arkansas Razorback football seasons for most of his life. He left this life surrounded by family, and is now in his true home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon Young Abrams; children, Joe Gregory Abrams (Cristya) , Chris Abrams (Lindley), Joe Alton Abrams Jr., Anna Abrams and Amber Wiles (Matt); grandchildren, Nicholas, Mikayla, Christopher, Jack, Abigail, Savannah, Ridge, and Caroline; sister, Shelba Jean Bates; and other extended family and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to Agape Church Mission Program, 701 Napa Valley Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., led by Rev. Mitch Tapson Saturday, March 4, 2017 with a visitation prior to service at 10 a.m., at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 163 Mount Carmel Road, Cabot, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home.
