Margaret Ann Lanier

Margaret Ann Lanier of Fort Smith, and a resident of Memory Lane in Van Buren, went to be with our Heavenly Father on March 3, 2017, after a long battle of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Malvern, Arkansas on October 31, 1946, to James Robert Williams and Dessie Hernsberger Williams. She was a graduate of Malvern High School and later moved to North Little Rock before marrying Michael and moving to Fort Smith. Margaret was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Williams and her husband of almost 50 years, Michael J. Lanier. Margaret always enjoyed time with her husband and family, including her two daughters, Michelle Knight (Keith) of Springdale, and Lisa Atwell (Michael) of Fort Smith, and three granddaughters, Grace, Catheranne and Ella. She is also survived by her mother, Dessie Williams of North Little Rock and two brothers, Charles Williams (Sandy) of North Little Rock and Jim Williams (Betty) of Petit Jean Mountain, Morrilton, Ark. A very creative and talented person, Margaret enjoyed many years of quilting with her friends and was a member of the Belle Point Quilter's Guild. Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church and was involved in the choir and women's ministry for many years. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Ironton Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark.
