Betty Mardell Cooley

Betty Mardell Lulubelle Cooley Smith was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Canton, Ill., and passed away March 4, 2017 in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born to Niles and Margaret West. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband John William Cooley Jr., her second husband Elvin Smith, and her youngest son Little John Cooley. She is survived by her only sister Margaret Woods and her husband J.R. of Winslow, daughter Marie Lee and husband Mark of Prairie Grove, son David Cooley and wife Sheryl of West Fork, son Darrel Cooley and wife Cherry of West Fork, daughter Mary Mathews and husband Tony of West Fork, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Betty was a devoted member of the New Sulphur Freewill Baptist Church and a proud wife of a cattle farmer. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Burial was on March 5th with no viewing or services. A graveside ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at the McDonald Cemetery in West Fork, at noon followed by a potluck at the Riverside Park in West Fork. Online guestbook www.luginbuel.com.
