Nancy Carolyn McCuin

Nancy Carolyn McNeil McCuin, 86, passed on to her eternal reward on February 27, 2017. Nancy was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on July 15, 1930 to John Edward McNeil, Sr. and Minnie Greene McNeil. She graduated from Fort Smith High School, attended Ouachita Baptist College (Ouachita Baptist University), and graduated from the University of Texas El Paso. Nancy met Earl McCuin, at Ouachita and they were married September 2, 1956. During her husband's long tenure as Director of the Moor Children's Home in El Paso, Texas, Nancy loved serving as the librarian in the Home's library where she inspired many young readers. Earl and Nancy had no biological children but were important role models and loving supporters of the children at the Home. Many stayed in touch with them for years. They moved to Rogers upon retirement and enjoyed gardening, volunteering, teaching Sunday School/Bible Classes, cheering the Razorbacks and making many friends. Not long after Earl's death, Nancy moved to Innisfree Retirement Center. She again volunteered in the library. She refurbished, improved and made it a great resource for the residents. Nancy was a member of First Christian Church and had a lifelong love of teaching Sunday School and Bible Studies. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, husband and brothers, John Edward "Jack" McNeil Jr, Robert Daniel McNeil(infant) and James Houston McNeil(infant). Nancy is survived by two nieces and one nephew and their spouses, Marsha (Jim) Allbritton, Carolyn (Bill) Gaunt, and Alan (Kay) Sewell; great-nephews, John (Stephanie) Allbritton, Drew (Anna) Allbritton, Bradley (Cari) Gaunt, Kedric Sewell, Aubrey Sewell, and five great-great nieces and nephews and many dear friends. There will be a reception to remember and honor Nancy and the positive impact she had on so many people on March 19 at Innisfree Retirement Home from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Nancy and Earl McCuin Scholarship at Ouachita Baptist University, Office of Development, Box 3754, Arkadelphia, Ark. 71998, or a charity of choice. Another way to honor Nancy's memory would be to share a book with a child. Nancy loved the Lord with all of her heart, with all of her soul and with all of her mind.
