Norman J. Harwood, 90, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in a local assisted living. Mr. Harwood was born November 13, 1926 in Birdtown, Arkansas. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII, and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Before joining the postal service, he was a teacher and coach at Glen Rose-Malvern, Kildare, and Hooks. He was a member of Rose Hill Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Anna Harwood of Morrilton, Arkansas; his wife of 62 years, Mary Leota Harwood; sister, Betty Zane Harwood; and his grandson, William Gentry Harwood. Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Jim Dalton of Mechanicsville, Virginia; two daughters and son-in-law, Janis DeMuth of Texarkana and Diane and Bob Morgan of Maumelle, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Leigh Ann Harwood of Melbourne, Florida; four grandchildren, Kristy DeMuth, Justin Harwood, Shelby DeMuth, and Matt Morgan. A private family graveside ceremony was held on Friday, March 17 at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Texarkana, Arkansas.
