Mary Alice (Moore Sawyers) Baird

Mary Alice (Moore Sawyers) Baird, 87, of Williford, Ark., passed away on March 6, 2017 in Ravenden, Ark.. Mary was very active in the Williford PTA, often keeping score at sports events and volunteering at the school and in the community, including working in the Kindergarten room as a teacher's assistant and for the Williford Fire Department. She supported the fundraising efforts of many non-profit causes throughout her life, especially those for children, such as: March of Dimes, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and numerous school fundraisers. She spent her last days living in Ravenden, Ark. with her daughter and son-in-law, volunteering at the Williford Library and playing cards with family and friends. Mary is preceded in death by parents Walter and Sala Moore of Williford, Ark.; brothers Emerson Joshua Moore of Exeter, Mo., Charles Rubin Moore of Williford, Ark., William Earl Moore of Clinton, Md., Walter Tunny Moore of Williford, Ark., Ralph Louis Moore of Williford, Ark. and sisters Golden Ethel Moore of Williford, Ark., Olive Ruth Creal of Visalia, Calif., and Mildred Marie Lewis of Wichita, Kan. She is survived by one sister, Betty Jo Schaeffer of Tulare, Calif.; four children, Mary Jane (and John) Martinsen of Wynne, Ark., Donald (and Linda) Sawyers of Buford, Wyo., Loretta (and Nelson) Murphy of Ravenden, Ark. and Jacki (and Stan) Leatherman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eleven grandchildren, James Cash, Mary Beth Jones, Penelope Cash-Skaife, Timothy Cash, Lucynda Ivie, Sean Sawyers, Angel Murphy Galloway, Phillip Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Heath Hocum and Heather Hocum; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on April 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the historic Williford Methodist building in Williford, Ark. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
