Lyon Davis Childress

Lyon Davis "Lonnie" Childress, 74, of Ward died Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Mr. Davis was born July 6, 1942 in Bauxite to the late William V. and Winnie M. Davis Childress. He was kind and gentle with a strong faith in God. He was a happy man who never met a stranger and loved his family very much. Mr. Childress retired from US Foods as a maintenance supervisor. In addition to his parents, Mr. Childress was preceded in death by a son, Keith Childress; siblings, Woodrow Gammell, Dorvin Childress, Doralee Pierce, Doyle Childress, Miller Childress and Carl Childress and his mother-in-law, Corene Snead. Mr. Childress is survived by his wife, Sue Snead Childress; children, Johnny Childress of Pineville, Louisiana, Randy Ellison (Cheryl) of Ward, Tammy Ward (Randy) of Benton and Shannon Burchfield (Greg) of Ward; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, siblings, Vaughn Childress, Violet Mitchell, Irene Welch and Ruby Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816.
