William "Don" Miller, 87, of Benton, joined his beloved wife, Edith in Heaven on Thursday, May 4. He was born in the Congo Community to Andy and Beatrice (Ray) Miller on December 12, 1929. Don's mother died when he was 5 and later he lived with Clarence and Ollie Fuller of the Salem Community. Don loved to swim and play games, which he always won. Steel Bridge, even in cold weather, was one of his favorite swimming holes. Don graduated from Bryant High School and served in the Army during the Korean War as a Corporal. As a talented auto mechanic, he worked at Alcoa and also maintained the cars of family and friends. He served as a Union representative for the workers. Don was faithful in church work, donating many hours to the Mission Builders Program, traveling the state to build churches and camps for the ABA. He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. Don was preceded in death by his birth and foster parents, wife of 62 years, Edith Pelton Miller, who died on April 10, 2017 and a brother, Ramon Miller. He is survived by a son, Dennis Miller and wife, Rebecca, daughter, Janis Zylma and husband, John, granddaughter, Sarah Clayton and grandson, Johnathan Zylma, great-grandchildren, Brayden and Valeri Clayton and a large number of family and friends, who loved him dearly. Visitation will be Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Ashbys, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Graveside services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 8,2017, at Lee Cemetery in Benton with Bro. Scott Patton officiating. The family would like to thank Nellie Keesee, who helped with Don and reignited his love for Dominoes.
