J.B. BOATMAN, 88, of Sherwood, Ark., passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017. He was born April 14, 1929 to A.G. and Fluretta Mabry Boatman. J.B. was born and raised in North Little Rock, Ark. J.B. joined the Navy in 1946 and then the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He retired with 20 years of service. Papa loved to spend his time fishing, playing dominoes and spending time with his family. J.B. was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Elizabeth Zuber Boatman, his parents, five sisters and one brother. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Beth (Jim) Harris, Lee (Anita) Boatman, Howard Boatman, Jay (Sandra) Boatman; grandchildren, Matthew (Jenna) Brush, Rebecca (Chris)Rutherford, Olivia Harris, Marie (Doug) Bjork, Seth (Lindsey) Boatman, Samuel Boatman, Hunter Boatman, Lauren Boatman, Kristen Boatman and Andrew Boatman; six great-grandchildren; also his brother, Bob Boatman and sisters, Retta Kaster and Carrie Sorrells. Services will be held on Monday, May 8, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Sweet Home, Ark. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org).
