Earl Asbridge

On May 18, our Lord stretched out His hand and reached for our Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather Earl Asbridge. Earl was one of the finest men you would ever know. Earl was a quiet man, but he taught us so much with just his actions. It was his ability to affect those around him positively, with a high degree of integrity, that taught us how to be Humble and Kind. His kindness, his generosity and courage were limitless. While a man sometimes of few words, he taught us how to love a woman as he did his wife of thirty nine years Norma Sue. Not only in his words but in his actions, he showed us how a man should love a woman. He gave us all a foundation for the future. He dressed like a Cowboy and lived the Cowboy Code more than any man you would ever know. He could have been a Kenny Rogers look alike. He never complained about anything in life, not an unkind word slipped from his lips even in the most difficult of times. He just moved forward with that special grace of a man with a purpose. He honored his commitments. He was honest, faithful, caring and loving. He was the kind of man we all wish we could be. He had his Heart right with God, teaching Sunday School, reading his Bible and praying daily. He praised God through all of his pain and suffering to the very end. He honored God with his life. He was the essence of the Christian faith. We will see you in Heaven Our Brother in Christ. Earl was born June 6, 1944 in Marion, Kentucky to Eugene and Marie Asbridge. He was the oldest of three. Earl lived with his wife Norma in Fort Smith, Ark., for the last thirty nine years as Loving Husband and Wife. He was a member of Fianna Hills Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School classes for years. He was a devout Christian man who loved the Lord. He was always seen in Fort Smith wearing his Cowboy hat and boots. His biggest love besides his family were his friends and customers at Breeden Dodge where he worked for thirty eight years. Earl spent his early years in the Army. He loved his service while in Alaska. His final days he enjoyed every TV show about that part of the world. He is survived by his wife, Norma Sue Neel Asbridge of Fort Smith; stepson, Chuck Chunn of Fort Smith: brother Don Asbridge and wife Linda of Bella Vista: sister, Judy Long of Arkoma and grandchildren Jennifer Chunn of Fayetteville, Christopher Chunn of North Little Rock, Zane Chunn of Fort Smith and numerous extended family members. Visitation service will be Sunday, May 21 from 2-4 p.m., at Edwards Funeral Home. Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 23 at 1 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home under the direction of T. Ray Grandstaff and Jonny Irish. Pallbearers will be Christopher Chunn, Mike Cain, Robby Cain, Christian Cain, Neely Norwood, Brent Coffee and Taylor Case.
