Buford Fay Gibbons, 95, a resident of Springdale, Ark., passed away May 25, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center. He was born Dec. 23, 1921 in Dover, Ark., to Herbert Matthew Gibbons and Anna Mae Hardcastle Gibbons. He graduated from Parkers Chapel High School near El Dorado, Ark., before entering the Army Air Corps in 1942. Fay served in WWII and was stationed in Italy at a B-17 base where he managed an oxygen plant. After his return Fay married the love of his life, Betty Jane Walker. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in Feb. of 2016, one month prior to her death. He retired from A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. in 1995 where he was an investment advisor for 17 years. Fay is survived by one daughter, Denise Gibbons-Cobb (Bill), and one son, Chip Gibbons (Becca). He was Pap-paw to three grandchildren, Maggie Cobb, James Gibbons (Sirena), and Amanda Gibbons. He is also survived by one sister, Helen Gibbons White, of Atlanta, Ga. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale, Ark. Visitation will be followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Bluff Cemetery with military honors.
