Jimmie Rogers Bennett, 82, of Cabot passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017. He was born on February 28, 1935 to Paul and Julia Bennett of Judsonia. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Winnifred Bennett and his sister Hazel Wiggs. He is survived by daughter, Sharon Euler (Calvin) of Cabot, and sons, Mark (Patti) of Little Rock and Larry (Karen) of Carrollton, Texas; and his brother, Paul Bennett, Jr. of Judsonia as well as eight grandchildren: Matthew Euler, Jonathan Euler, Melissa Bishop, Kyle Bennett, Ashley Bennett, Caitlin Elkins, Elizabeth Bennett and Andrew Bennett. He worked 40 years for First Electric Cooperative in Jacksonville as a construction supervisor. After his retirement he became an excellent stump grinder and trapper. He loved the outdoors hunting quail, squirrels and deer and spent many days fishing with Winnie. He enjoyed gardening allowing the family to reap the benefits of fresh vegetables, strawberries and plum jelly. He delighted in sharing items from the garden with friends and relatives. He and Winnie loved playing bridge with their friends, though he was never quite as good as she at the game. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Cabot. He served on the board of Cabot Public Schools for 20 years and used his construction expertise to the advantage of the district for numerous buildings on the campus. He was a dedicated servant to the public in that capacity. The family wants to acknowledge Greystone Nursing and Rehab and Kindred Hospice for their service and love shown to Dad. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m.with Dr. Del Medlin officiating.
