James R. Crutchfield

James R. Crutchfield, age 87, of Sheridan passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 25, 1930 in Grant County, Arkansas to the late Allison and May Crutchfield. On December 23, 1950 he married Vera Fuell in Prattsville. Mr. Crutchfield was a cattle and dairy farmer for many years. He was a longtime member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. James was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Fuell Crutchfield on October 25, 2010; grandson, Benjamin Crutchfield; and sisters, Zula Bird and Dorothy Atchley. Left to cherish his memory, son, Wayne (Pam) Crutchfield of Prattsville; daughters, Sharon (Brad) Warren and Denise (Dean) Cupit, both of Prattsville, Lorraine (Doyle) Otwell of Malvern; brother, Jerry Crutchfield of Prattsville; sisters, Zelma Highsmith of Sheridan, Helen Lipscomb of Seminole, Florida, Betty Tapley of Greenbrier; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 at Harmony Baptist Church in Prattsville with Brother Shawn Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Pallbearers are Bradley Warren, Chuckie Skorcz, Austin Crutchfield, Jacob Kelly, Jason Otwell, Jeff Overton, Shane Breshears, and Wesley Graves.
