Alma Jean Tuberville

Alma Jean Tuberville, 90, passed away on October 5 after an extended illness in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Growing up in the Macedonia area of Southwest Arkansas, she graduated from Magnolia High School and Magnolia A and M College (now South Arkansas University). Alma Jean Franks married Partee Tuberville on August 16, 1948. After their marriage, Alma Jean began her life in Magnolia, Arkansas, working first in the Columbia County courthouse including an appointment by Governor Orval Faubus as county judge. The couple had two children, William Paul Tuberville and Angela Jean Tuberville. Her days were full balancing the demands of a young family as well as her new role in the Magnolia Public School system in the late 1960's. As her family grew, so did her involvement in her school, church, and community activities. From PTA to dance recitals, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and First Methodist youth programming, she was instrumental in helping many community and church activities become a reality due to her leadership. For many years, she served as President of the FUMC United Methodist Women. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Partee Tuberville (June 2017); her parents, Otis and Velma Franks; sister, Saline Grace; and brother, Otis Jr., more often known as "Buddy" Franks. She is survived by son, Paul Tuberville and wife Kathy of Germantown, Tennessee; daughter, Angela Brasher and husband Bill of Springdale, Arkansas; and grandchildren, Emily and husband Kyle Taubken, Laura Tuberville, Susan Tuberville, Stephen Brasher and John Brasher. Visitation will be at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc.on Sunday, October 8, 5-7 p.m. with services at First United Methodist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas on Monday, October 9 at 10 a.m. Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas.
