Donald Ervie McClain

Mr. Donald Ervie McClain, resident of Wynne, departed this life on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis at the age of 87. He was born in Zelienople, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, June 25, 1930, to Donald Donover McClain and Aetemina Anna-Margaret (Birch-Kline) McClain-Rich. Don was a 1948 graduate of Zelienople High School. He worked at Halstead Industries from 1948-1971, and served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 as part of Operation Glory in Korea. Don joined the Zelienople Masonic Lodge in 1950, as well as becoming a 32nd member of AASR Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of New Castle, Pennsylvania in 1960. Mr. McClain relocated to Wynne in 1968, and placed membership with Wynne Baptist Church in 1970 where he was an active of Mr. Bill Winkler's Sunday school class. In 1973 the McClains opened Wynne Skateland, and in 1976, opened Wynne Lanes where they continue to provide recreation for the community they love. Don had a legendary green thumb, and a passion for plants and gardening. He was an avid outdoorsman. Don loved animals and the hunting atmosphere. He was a true family man who loved children and spending quality time with his family. Mr. McClain was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Walter Rich. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Faye Arlene (Scheidemantle) McClain of the home; a son, Rusty McClain and wife, Dena, of Wynne; three daughters, Cindy McClain-Baker and husband, Vann, Judy McClain-Hagler and husband, Chip, and Lori McClain-Everett all of Wynne; a sister, Janice McClain-Black and husband, Dave, of Zelienople, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Aaron Baker and wife, Beth, Ashley Hagler-Miller and husband, Nate, Sarah Baker-Armstrong, Matt Hagler and wife, Rachel, Jordan McClain, Kelsey Barnett-Myers and husband, Nick, Lathan Barnett, Allyson Hicks, and Lauren Hicks; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Wynne Baptist Church with Brother Don Pucik officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Aaron Baker, Matt Hagler, Jordan McClain, Lathan Barnett, Nate Miller, Nick Myers, Kevin Fisher, and Karl Garner.
