JD Ball of Hot Springs Village, passed away on October 6, 2017. He was born in East Texas on November 27, 1938 the son of WT and Mildred Ball. JD married Nancy Kosin on December 4, 1986. J.D. served with honor in the U.S Navy for 20 years aboard the USS Breckenridge (TAP176), Hancock (CV19), and during the Vietnam War the USS Midway (CV41); the Windham County (LST1170), where he earned the Navy Achievement Medal with "V" for Valor for saving the lives of the crew aboard a river boat; the Blue Ridge (LCC19), where he served as a member of the commissioning crew, Duluth (LPD6), and Thomaston (LSD28). During Vietnam, he also helped bring home our POWs after their release. JD enjoyed fishing, traveling; he loved spending time with family and friends with always a story to be told. In addition to his wife, JD is survived by his children, JD (Kathy) Ball of Jacksonville, Fla., James Ball of New Orleans, La., David (Spring) Ball of Arnaudville, La., Mark (Colleen) Ball of Bryant, Ark. and his step-children, Sandra (John) Spicer of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and John Kosin of Pineville, La. JD was a proud grandfather of fourteen grandchildren Kathleen, Jay Andrew, Kristy, Kelly, Zach (Emily), Kasey (Estaben), Megan (Daniel), Eric (Dana), Marlee, Jessica (Jennifer), Casey, Andrew, Trevor, Alex, and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Corbin. JD will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered at sea and at the family cemetery in Cass County, Texas.
