Jimmy "J.R" Spurlock, 76, of Centerton Ark. passed away Oct. 7, 2017 after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Lorene Spurlock and his sister Anna Jean Buell. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Spurlock; his children, Keith Spurlock (Rovena) of Bauxite, Gina Bell (Ken) of Mayflower, Leah King of Centerton and Bobby King; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Jimmy served his country for 30 years. He joined the Navy out of high school in 1959 and retired as a CW04 Chief Warrant Officer. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and many others. He traveled and lived across the globe. Upon retiring he worked at Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest Ca teaching auto mechanics. Jimmy loved to play Texas hold'em and going all in! He spent his last few years working on his 1972 Mach II Ford Mustang. He also loved to fish. Jimmy was a lifetime member of the VFW and was an active member in the Bull Shoals post. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 14th at the VFW in Bull Shoals, Arkansas at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Bentonville Circle of Life Hospice or the Cancer Society.
