Rodney Earl Orr, 85, of Hope passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. He was born April 7, 1932 to A.V. and Winnie Nannie Orr of McCaskill, Arkansas. He was a proud graduate of the University of Blevins and the Arkansas Police Academy. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a military police officer. After completing his military service, he joined the Arkansas State Police force, where he retired as captain after 37 years of service. He was an active member of Unity Baptist Church in Hope. His favorite pass times were watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sporting events and traveling with his wife in their motorhome. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glen Odis and Elijah Orr; his sister, Charlene Clark and husband Reid of Hope. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lyllene Burke Orr of Hope; daughter, Vicki Barker and husband Jack of Hope; sons, Rick Orr and wife Stephanie of Hope, Rodney and wife Jennifer Orr of Hope. His legacy includes six grandchildren, Jennifer Murphy (Marcus), Courtney Hamilton (Adam), Jessica Fisher (Justin), Ryan Orr, Sydney Orr and Rusty Orr; six great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Emma Kate and Braxton Murphy, Reed, Kinsley and Knox Fisher. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Herndon Pharr Funeral Home of Hope, Arkansas. Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 in the Chapel of Herndon Pharr Funeral Home with Brother Glen Tropp. Interment will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery.
