Shirley Jane Lott

Shirley Lott, beloved spouse of Vernon Lott, Springdale, Ark. passed peacefully into eternal life on October 11, 2017. Born on December 10, 1924 in Hammond Indiana, she lived an adventurous, full and faithful life. After completing college at Saint Francis in Joliet, Ill., Shirley held various jobs in the surrounding area before becoming the Service Club Director at Benjamin Harrison AFB. Subsequently, she was promoted to the command Service Club Director EADF in New York and moved to take the Command Service Club Director, Third Air Force in London where she met Vernon whom she married on October 8, 1955. She was the youngest Service Club Command Director working during the Korean War. Vernon and Shirley were avid travelers visiting all 50 US states and much of the world. Shirley was active in service for others throughout her life including most recently working as an active volunteer at Circle of Life, at St. Joseph's gift shop and the church pantry. When not traveling or spending time with their children and family members, she and Vernon enjoyed attending theatre and were active supporters of Theatre of the Ozarks, Theatre Squared, Crystal Bridges, Walton Arts Center, and University of Arkansas theatre. Shirley and Vernon have all nine children surviving, including: Anastasia, Maryknoll sister, Patrick (spouse Kim), Damien (spouse Mary Ellen), Bridget (partner Amy), Rebecca, Gretchen (spouse Joe), Catherine (spouse Ronald), Christopher, and Jordan. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Zita Van Valkenburg and her sister, Nadine and brother-in-law, David Mohr, and her brother, Billy. In lieu of flowers, her family asks you to please consider making a donation to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale Aerk.72764, Visitation will be on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. with Rosary following at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. Father John Connell will preside with all services held at: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tontitown, Ark. A reception will be held in the St. Joseph Church hall immediately following mass. Private interment at Fayetteville National Cemetery will be conducted on Monday, October 16, 2017.
