Raymond Elie Croswell

Raymond Elie Croswell, 99, was called home on October 14, 2017. He was born July 19, 1918 on a farm near Crossett, Ark.; the sixth child and fifth son to Lige and Pearl Croswell. After serving in the US Army in WWII as Mess Sergeant in Kodiak, Ala., he moved to Little Rock, obtained his GED, and entered the Missionary Baptist Seminary. He married Anita Morris on August 13, 1948. He served as pastor of Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church near Hot Springs in the 1950's, and was the first pastor of Woodhaven Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock in 1966. He also worked as a bookkeeper for J.C. Tucker and Son's Flooring, and as gate security for Sterling Stores Distribution Center. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America & the American Legion. In retirement, Raymond loved gardening, family history research, reading his Bible, and traveling. He co-authored A Farmer's Line, Some Descendants of John Croswell. Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Anita; and is survived by three children, Cindy Goodnight and husband Leonard of Hensley, Ark, Ben Croswell and wife Teresa of Hensley, and Kent Croswell of Hot Springs Village; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 9:30 a.m., also at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home.
