Floydell Newcomb

Floydell Wilmoth Newcomb, 89 years young of Benton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 17, 2017 while in Saline Memorial Hospice Care of Bryant. Floydell was born May 29, 1928 in Saline County to the late Floyd and Alda McAdoo Wilmoth. Floydell was educated in the Harmony Grove School District in Benton. She was a Licensed LPTN after completing her training at the Benton State Hospital. After she retired from Benton Services Center, she continued to work part time at local nursing facilities to have a little extra money for the trips she loved to take with her grandchildren. Floydell married the love of her life, the late R.C. Newcomb on February 17, 1945 and they were blessed with four children. Floydell professed her life to Christ at an early age and lived a life showing her faith and service to Christ her Lord and Savior. Floydell was a member of Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church, where she raised her family to have a strong belief in the power and presence of God. She was a woman who serviced her family and community with faithfulness, a helping hand, a smile, good food, and always a great sense of humor. She loved her family and friends fiercely and was always ready with a cup of coffee to visit with anyone who came over. Floydell was also a member of the Hill Crest Chapter #620 Order of the Eastern Star of Arkansas where she served as the Worthy Matron. Floydell loved reading her Bible, singing songs and hymns, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and loving. She was a kind, loving, caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. "For who can find a virtuous woman? Her worth is far above rubies" (Proverbs 31:10) Floydell leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her children, Sherry Green (Randall) of Benton, Nell Fooks (Dan) of Benton, Mickey Newcomb (Otty Lou) of Benton, and Jeff Newcomb (Kris) of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, her aunt, Jean Kitchens, many cousins and friends whom she considered family. Church services by Ashby Funeral Home will be held at Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church on October 20, Friday, at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Graham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to Graham Cemetery or Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church.
