Photo of John Wayne Walker
John Wayne Walker, 72, of North Little Rock went home to glory Wednesday, October 17, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. John was born in Lonoke to Dorthy L Walker and the late John Daniel Walker. John graduated from Lonoke High School in 1963 and two years later joined the Arkansas Army National Guard where he proudly served our country until retiring in 2003. Though retired, he felt he had more to give, so he continued teaching logistics with LMR at Camp Robinson until he retired from there in 2008. John was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting about as much as he loved his grandchildren although that would be argued by some which he loved more. John will be greatly missed by many as he was loved and admired by many friends, co-workers and extended family. John is survived by his mother, Dorthy L Walker, his wife of 32 years, Joyce L Walker, his two daughters; Kellie (David) Huggs and Kerrie DeWhitt, his step-children; Jennifer (Craig) Richardson, Jerry (Tammy) Curry and Jody (Darin) Shelton, his grandchildren; Logan DeWhitt, Hannah (Steven) Taylor, Ashlynn DeWhitt, Blayke Huggs, Rusty Wallis, Justin Rudell, Jessie Wallis, Taylor Curry, Zackary Curry and future great-grandson Brooks Taylor. Visitation for John will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 with funeral services to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72117. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock. Services will be officiated by Bro. Jeff Taylor.
