John Charles Gottsponer, age 73, of Solgohachia, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017. He was born October 17, 1944 in St. Vincent, Arkansas, a son of John Frank Gottsponer and Christine Noll Gottsponer. He began working at Crompton Mills at the age of sixteen as a weaver. John worked at the cotton mill until it closed. He also worked as a logger, farmer, and did general construction for Paladino-Nash. John loved being outdoors. He was a GREAT hunter and fisherman. One of his favorite outdoor activities was giving 4-wheeler rides to his grandchildren. John was a great story-teller and loved sharing stories with his grandchildren. He also was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Ferricher Gottsponer of Solgohachia; sons, Allan Gottsponer of Conway, Adam (Mandy) Gottsponer of St. Vincent, and John (Lendsey) Gottsponer of St. Vincent; daughter, Toni (Gene) Hodges of St. Vincent; brothers, Clemens Gottsponer of Maumelle and Pete Gottsponer of St. Vincent; sisters, Mary Ann Brown of Morrilton, Helen Branch of Oppelo, and Molly Wells of Cleveland; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Flora Gottsponer. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 21, at St. Mary Cemetery with Father Jim Burnie officiating.
