DOROTHY FRANCES ALDRICH, 99, of Little Rock passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2017. She was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Sioux City, Iowa to Mae Marie Proctor and Charles Clement Schafstall. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Granville Aldrich, and her sons, William Marvin Aldrich, of Arlington, Texas, and Charles E. Aldrich, of Little Rock. Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law Georgia Hoffman (Mike), granddaughter Tiffany Hoffman-Smith and two great-grandsons, Jackson Hudkins and Graham Smith. Dorothy met her husband Bill while working as a bookkeeper in Sioux City. They married and his job for Otis Elevator took them to many new homes throughout their marriage. However, they finally settled in Little Rock were their two sons were able to graduate high school. After her husband passed away, Dorothy went to work at St. Paul Insurance, once again working as a bookkeeper. She retired from St. Paul after 10 years of service. She loved to travel in retirement and spend lots of time with her granddaughter Tiff, whom she spoiled with lots of love and affection. Dorothy could always be found with a book by her side and particularly enjoyed historical literature. She also enjoyed playing the piano and made certain Tiffany was musically trained. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the library or music ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church.
