Ronald Wayne Horst

Ronald Wayne Horst, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at the Fayetteville Veteran's Hospital. He was born on Nov. 15, 1950, in Mobridge, S.D., to Robert and Elfrieda Sandmeier Horst. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his three brothers, Kenneth, Reuben and Dale Horst. Ronald attended school in Glenham, S.D., and Eureka, S.D. He graduated from high school in 1969 and immediately joined the United States Navy and became a radio operator. After serving four years in the Navy, he returned to Mobridge, S.D., to be around his family. After a few years, he moved to Arkansas where he began a career in Telecom construction where he had various duties. After 10 years, he became an over the road trucker until he retired. Even though he never married, his family and friends were very important to him. Ronald was an organ donor and many people will receive the help that they need by his sacrifice. He is survived by his sister, Dolores Brown and husband James; his brother, Leroy Horst and wife Judy; eight nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and nephews; and eight great-great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Concord Baptist Church at 6105 Alma Hwy, Van Buren, Ark., 72956. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery at 700 S. Government Ave, Fayetteville, Ark., 72701.
