Betty Lockley

Betty Lockley, 74, passed away August 31, 2017. She was born October 31, 1942, in Poinsett County, Arkansas, to William Edward Phipps and Millie Overton Phipps. Betty worked as a waitress in DeWitt for many years and always had a smile for her customers. She enjoyed gardening and visiting with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde Lockley, and two brothers Kenneth and Lee Phipps. Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Johnny and Alta Lockley of DeWitt; two grandchildren, Heath Lockley and his wife Ashtyn of Marion and Jena Lockley of DeWitt; one great-grandson, Cade Lockley of Marion; one brother, James Edward Phipps of California; two sisters, Gladys Simpson and her husband Russell of DeWitt and Patricia Ann Phipps of Alexander; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. September 2 at Sunnyside Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Forks LaGrue Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home. Afterwards, because Betty loved feeding people and visiting with them, her family invites her friends to join them for lunch and visiting at Sunnyside Missionary Baptist Church.
