Billie Jean Atkins Johnson, 84, of Fordyce died Saturday Sept. 2, 2017 at JRMC in Pine Bluff. Born Aug. 13, 1933 at New Edinburg, she was a daughter of the late R.D. Atkins and Mamie Barnes Atkins. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and DAR. She was the owner and operator of Jean's Clothing Store until retirement, and was a co-founder of Johnson's Warehouse Showroom. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Glen Ballard; daughter-in-law, Reba Ballard; brother, Donnie Atkins. She is survived by her husband, Max Johnson of Fordyce; son, Kent Johnson and his wife, Terri of Monticello; sister, Wilma Johnson and her husband, John of Fordyce; three grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Kayla Griffin and her husband, Tyler; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Benton Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Bobo and Rev. Lance Hollis officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 316, Fordyce, Ark. 71742.
