Leon Person

Leon Person, age 77, died on Sept, 21, 2017. Born on Aug. 26, 1940, Leon was a lifelong resident of Searcy, Ark. He and his wife, Sherry, owned and operated Person Furniture Company in Searcy for 30 years until their retirement in 2002. Previously he was a salesman for Duncan Auto Sales for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Searcy and the Todd Carpenter Sunday school class. Leon was also a steadfast supporter of the city of Searcy and the downtown business district, as well as a long-time board member and supporter of Newhope Specialized Industries. Leon was preceded in death by his parents Simon and Ruth Person and his brother Jerry Person. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry, his daughters Sheila Blindman (Scott) and Paula Higgins and grandsons Tyler Higgins and Jake Blindman. Leon was loyal and dear to his family and many friends, always ready with a helping hand of support in a time of need. The family will have a private graveside service. Friends and family are invited to a reception at First Baptist Church of Searcy on Sunday, September 24 at 3 p.m., in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Searcy Building Fund or a charity of choice.
