Leslie "Paul" Evans

Leslie "Paul" Evans, 87, of Benton, Arkansas passed away April 5, 2018. He was born March 14, 1931 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Leslie Carl and Eula (Ballard) Evans. Paul proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed by the Department of Finance and Administration with the State of Arkansas. Watching Gunsmoke and old westerns was a favorite pastime of Paul's. The highlight of his week was spending time at the Sheridan and Benton Senior Centers playing dominos and listening to the bands. Paul loved the Lord with all his heart and was of the Baptist faith. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife of twenty-five years, Paulette Sheppard Evans; and two brothers: John T. Evans and Rick Harkins. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Leslie Paulette Evans of Benton, Arkansas; son, Tim Evans of St. Helen, Oregon; several grandchildren; sister, Linda Heathcock and husband Herschel of Conway, Arkansas; brother, Dan Harkins; and a host of family and friends who love Paul and will miss him always. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, April 9, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton. Graveside service with military honors and officiated by Pastor Clyde Chenault will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 10, at Poe Cemetery in Grant County.
