Vena Aileen Eason

Vena Aileen Eason, 92, was born on January 20, 1946, in Hiram, Ark., to Frank and Esther Martin. She went to meet her Lord on April 11, 2018 in Searcy, Ark. She was valedictorian of the Class of 1944 at Wilburn High School. After following her dreams and studies in teaching and home economics, she married the love of her life, James C. Eason, Jr., on August 17, 1946, in Heber Springs, Ark. As the wife of a career sailor in the U.S. Navy, she traveled much of the U.S. until he retired the family to Searcy in 1967. She and Jim raised three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and were active members of First Baptist Church of Searcy for over 50 years. She remained an avid reader and Bible teacher, who gifted many with her knitting, crocheting and other crafts. Vena was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Lena Stover; her brothers Edward Martin, Buil Martin, Orville Martin and Earnie Martin; and her son-in-law Bob Weagly. She is survived by her husband, brother Virl (Annelle) Martin of Louisville, Ky.; her daughters Jamie Weagly of Searcy, Ruth (Mark) Hooper of Little Rock, son Ed (Ann) Eason of Conway; her grandchildren Erik (Jenn) Faust of Goffstown, N.H., Kevin Faust of Chambersburg, Pa., Dylan (Erin) Weagly of Lancaster, Pa., Michelle (James) Byler of Valley Springs, Ark., and Jacque (Will) Dumas of Cabot, Ark., and her great-grandchildren Connor and Landon Weagly of Lancaster, Pa., Joey and Adam Byler of Valley Springs, Ark., and Brooke Dumas of Cabot, Ark. The family wishes to thank the management and staff who cared for her over the past several weeks at White County Memorial and at the Crossings at Riverside, along with the many church friends, other friends and neighbors who have shared their love with Vena, Jim and all the family. Vistation will be from 6-8 p.m., on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. Visitation at 1-2 p.m., on Monday, April 16, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Searcy. A celebration of Vena's life will be held at 2 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Searcy or the Gideons International.
