Jerry Surles

Jerry Surles, 76, of Fayetteville, died on April 16, 2018. He was born January 11, 1942, to the late Margie and Otho Surles in Pocahontas, Ark. He served as a U.S. Marine. After the Marine Corps he worked for Washington County Sheriff's office; retired from Fayetteville Police Department; and Arkansas Western Gas. Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as an avid Razorback fan. He treasured making his grandkids breakfast. He is survived by his wife, Velma, of 51 years; two children, Kim Groves of Cookeville, Tenn., and Steven Surles and wife, Tracie of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three grandchildren, Joshua Groves of Cookeville, and Maddison and Cameron Surles of Broken Arrow; two brothers, Thomas Surles and wife, Hattie of Baytown, Texas, and Gary Surles and wife, Lou of Batesville, Ark.; one sister, Donna Street and husband Houston of Pocahontas, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, on April 20, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Old Union Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ark.
