Stephen "Hawk" Schafer

Stephen "Hawk" Schafer passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at the age of 62. He was born March 9, 1956, in Stuttgart to Bill and Margaret Schafer. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Dusty McKenzie; and niece, Keeton Maddox. He is survived by the love of his life, Linda Sparrow McCarty; two brothers, Bob (Billie Anne) Schafer of Orlando, Fla., and Johnny (Betty) Schafer of Bigelow, Ark.; six sisters, Susan (Rich) Hayes of New York, N.Y., Sandra (Dan) Luckett of Dallas, Texas, Barbara (David) Hildebrand of Little Rock, Lisa (Mickey) Pierce of Stuttgart, Patty Schafer of Laurel, Miss., and Janie Hicks of Forrest City; nieces and nephews, Jason Schafer, Preston Maddox, Christian Hildebrand, Ginea Qualls, Brandon Schafer, Michael Schafer, Steven Shook, Clay Shook, Matt Turner, Trent Turner and Hannah Hicks; great nieces and nephews, Savanah Qualls, Gabe Hildebrand, Ethan and Aubrey Schafer; his dogs, FeeBee and Carmen; and so many lifelong friends. He was a lifetime resident of Stuttgart and enjoyed hunting, sports, horse racing and spending time with his dogs. He worked for Riceland for over 20 years. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. at Turpin Funeral Home with burial following in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
