Donald Burton Weis, 82, of Collierville, TN, passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2018. He was born on March 21st, 1935, in Wheatley, Arkansas to Richard C. and Georgia Knight Weis. He grew up in Brinkley, Arkansas and graduated from Brinkley High School. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the National Guard. Upon graduation, he moved to West Memphis, Arkansas where he had a long career in the propane industry. While in West Memphis, he served his community as president of West Memphis Chamber of Commerce, board member of Fidelity National Bank, and past board member of the Memphis Federal Reserve Bank. He was also an active member of the Memphis Model Railroad Club, the Railroad Historical Society and the Quarterback Club. Upon retirement, he became president of Tamak Transportation Corporation Don was a diehard razorback fan as well as an avid train enthusiast. He was also an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Memphis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard K. and Francis C. Weis. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Helen Cooper Weis of Collierville; five children, Cynthia Lee Weis of Eads, Tenn., Kimberly Weis Avery (Edward) of Collierville, Kristin Weis Lester (Bobby) of Collierville, D. Burton Weis (Amy) of Fayetteville, Ark. and Allison Paige Weis of Collierville. He also leaves two sisters, Rosemary Weis Kercheval and Pat Weis, both of Texas; and nine grandchildren: Elizabeth, Charlie, and Claire Avery; Laura, Christopher, and Harrison Lester; and Anna, Maggie, and Lily Weis. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 at Canale Funeral Directors followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Memphis. Inurnment will follow the service in the Columbarium at St. Peter. There will be a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
