Gilmer (Bud) Luther Smith

Gilmer (Bud) Luther Smith, 79, of Lewisville, Ark., passed away at his home Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, with his family at his bedside. He was born Feb. 8, 1938, in Smead, Ark., to George Gilmer and Ima Dell (Neely) Smith. He owned and operated a sawmill for many years and was in the sawmill industry all his working life. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ near Lewisville for a number of years. He enjoyed being around family and friends and will be missed by all that shared his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marcy Langley, one brother, Donald Ray Smith, a granddaughter, Lucretia Dauzat as well as his brothers-in-law A.L. Langley and Don Martin. He is survived by his wife, Iris Smith of Lewisville, Ark., (married almost 60 years). Two daughters , Janie Cox (Gary) of Lewisville and Safrona Fenske (Randy) of Lewisville. Two sons, Gilmer L. Smith Jr., (Shannon) of Willis Point, Texas and Lance Smith (Rolena) of Elbert, Colo., a sister, Mary Martin of Blanchard, La., an a brother Tommy Parker (Linda) of Waldo, Ark. Left to mourn his passing is nine grandchildren and their spouses, as well as six great-grandchildren. A visitation for Mr. Smith will be held Monday evening at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps from 6-7 p.m. Jan. 15, 2018. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
