PAUL GOODMAN, 93, of North Little Rock, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018. He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Perryville, Tenn., to James and Maggie Herndon Goodman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a Kamikaze survivor of USS Charles Ausburne DD-570 and then served in the U.S. Army until his retirement as a Chief Warrant Officer III. Paul was a member and served as Greeter at Park Hill Presbyterian Church for many years. He was an elder as well as active on many church committees and was a "good and faithful servant" to our Lord. He loved his church family. He was a long time dedicated and faithful board member to the Landlord Association. He also was a long time member of Amboy Crime Watch. Anyone that knew him would tell you it was impossible for him to go anywhere without him stopping to talk to somebody, even somewhere as simple as the gas station or the grocery store. He was a great story teller and people were always eager to listen to him. He always had a joke or a funny story to share. Paul would always find a positive, even in a negative situation. He cared for people, especially working with the young; he loved to teach, rather it was about our country's history or how to cut the grass. He loved cutting his grass. He had a love for cars. He loved dancing. He hardly ever missed a day to drive to Mapco for his cup of cappuccino and talk with each customer. He is survived by his son, Larry Goodman; two daughters, Paula Picard and Heidi Potter; sister, Helen Gorman; grandchildren, Victoria Madigan, Erin Cislo, Derek Potter, Danya Potter, Krissie Goodman, Zachary Goodman and Stephen Goodman; great-grandchildren, Vincent Madigan, Mason Mulherin, Marshall Furqueron; and several extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Maxellen Craig, Scott Goodman, James "JC" Goodman, Irlby Whitehead; and his grandson, Marcus Goodman. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Park Hill Presbyterian Church. Burial with full military honors will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Noon. Food and Fellowship will follow at Sherwood Forest Facility, 1111 W. Maryland Ave. In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to make a donation in his memory to Park Hill Presbyterian Church at 3520 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark., 72116.
