Orville "Jim" James Kreis

Mr. Orville James "Jim" Kreis, resident of Augusta, departed this life on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Unity Health-White County Medical Center in Searcy at the age of 89. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Thursday, November 1, 1928, the son of the late Mr. S.F. "Sam" Kreis and Mrs. Minnie Jane (Walker) Kreis. Jim and Anna Ruth Burkhart were united in marriage on June 13, 1948. Mr. Kreis was a farmer and a Mason, and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Jim was a man of few words who spent his time building a family with his beloved wife, Ruth. Mr. Kreis was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Minnie Kreis; an infant son; three brothers, John, Sam, and Arthur; and three sisters, Naomi, Ida, and Mable. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Ruth Kreis, of the home; five sons, Gary Kreis and his wife, Ann, of Arlington, Tennessee; James Arthur Kreis, of Augusta; Michael Wayne "Mickey" Kreis and his wife, Ginger, of Augusta; Jeffery "Jeff" Kreis and his wife, Teresa, of Little Rock; and David Kreis and his wife, Lisa, of Hutto, Texas; nine grandchildren, Michael Kreis, Kelly Bailey, Justin Kreis, Lana Fairchild, J. Kreis, Matt Kreis, Jacob Kreis, Katelyn Kreis, and Kylee Kreis; nine great-grandsons; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in McCrory with Mr. Bobby Bowen officiating under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home, McCrory, Arkansas. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to service time. Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Asbury Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee with Pastor Ashley Helton officiating under the direction of Bridges Funeral Home, Knoxville, Tennessee. Donations may be made in Jim's honor to the American Cancer Society.
