William L. Gill

William Lee Gill, 94, of Perryville, passed away on June 6, 2018. He was born January 4, 1924 in Little Rock to the late Riley and Minnie Gill. Aside from being a loving husband, dad, and grandpa, he was a retiree from the Union Pacific Railroad as well as a veteran. He served his country proudly during WWII, earning several awards for his service. W.L. flew 25 combat missions over Europe and escaped as a P.O.W. in Italy. After his retirement from the railroad, he spent his days on his property tinkering with cars and cutting firewood. He touched many lives with his knowledge and guidance. He will be deeply missed. The world is a lesser place without him but the Heavens are rejoicing in their gain of this special man. W.L. was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Gill, son, William L. Gill, Jr., grandson, William Lee Gill III, brothers, Riley Jr. and Glen Gill, sister, Wilma Grosenbaugh. He is survived by nephew, Rommel (Lisa) Gill, granddaughter, Rosemary (Scott) Gill Offenbecher, daughter-in-law, Barbara Gill and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Pine Crest Cemetery with Bro. Stan Payne officiating. Visitation will be Friday at Ashbys, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Arkansas Hospice Hospital for the care he received. Words cannot express our gratitude.
